In Australia, in all States and Territories, Specialist Behaviour Practitioners must be Registered with the NDIS Safeguards Commission to practice. This course does not cover what’s required for you to be become a registered provider, there will only be a brief discussion about this. This course is designed to support anyone wanting to work with Instinct CBT or another NDIS Registered Provider, or those willing and able to become registered themselves. This course is designed to cover the ‘how to’ regarding being a practitioner. The way to approach situations, methods of engaging with others to develop rapport, methods of assessment, methods of problem-solving and all the templates that practitioners require to complete all these tasks.

Once Registered, Specialist Behaviour Practitioners can work with participants to help them understand the factors which are adversely affecting their wellbeing and create accommodations to support them to:

  • Understand their own sensory needs and profiles and how to self-regulate.
  • Teach those around them to co-regulate with them to help them cope and manage.
  • Help respond to any negative neural connections created due to previous experienced trauma and harm.
  • Understand the impact of the world upon them and the adjustments or accommodations they need to be aware of to manage their own wellbeing.

Specialist Behaviour Practitioners can register with the NDIS Safeguards Commission at the following levels, based on skills, experience and competence.

  • Core
  • Proficient
  • Advanced
  • Specialist

Please remember that the DivergAntz Collective does not approve practitioner status and cannot guarantee that anyone completing this course will be able to gain practitioner registration. This is a decision made by the NDIS Safeguards Commission and will be dependent on each person’s ability to demonstrate their skills and experience.
