The TEC program is nature based, exposing children to their natural environment, allowing them to use their creativity and innate sense of adventure to enjoy their surroundings while engaging in activities synonymous with childhood; building rafts and shelters, exploring bush land, swimming in crystal clear creeks, rock pool hopping, enjoying bush crafts, building a camp fire, sleeping under the stars - all while unintentionally engaging in group therapy, learning communication and socialisation techniques, consolidating self-regulation methods, acquiring independent living skills, practicing fine/gross motor skills and building on co-ordination. The Experience Collectors QLD is the brain child of Sarah Nelson and was born of necessity after her two gorgeous autistic boys were unable to access mainstream or general ‘disability’ activity programs. They required support that only those with personal experience of ASD could understand or provide, and a space where they were protected and encouraged to be proudly and completely autistic.
